it’s judith holding the head of holofernes! it’s from a bible story~
i thiiink this one is by lucas cranach the elder? but it’s totally possible i’m pulling that out of my ass. brb research!
eta: yup! also, the wiki page about judith’s beheading of holofernes has another cranach the elder painting of her on it, plus a whole gallery of other paintings based on the story. THERE ARE SO MANY lol it’s one of my favourite painting subjects, CREEP MUCH TSAR
